KAYA VILLAGE ART CAMP
Kaya Village Art Camp 1999-2008
It is located in the old deserted Greek Village between Fethiye and world famous beach Oludeniz. There are about 3500 ruins from the Greek period in this village (KAYA) and are covered with pine forest. The camp area is in the middle of the village. There are lots of antique cities and very important historical places around Kaya(ghost town). At the camp site there is a restored stone house and pension rooms. There is a huge green garden, trees and wrokshops but you can use all the camp site as a workshop.

The workshops start after breakfast and after lunch trekking excursions are arranged to nearby historical and natural places, and after each trek we jump in to sea and enjoy the sun and sand. There are places for chilling out, reading, writing and dreaming around the campsite. You can also play volleyball, table tennis, football and basketball in the camp area.

In the night time we watch slide shows of world's famous photographers then chat, dance, sing enjoy the night around the camp fire .

Art workshops : There are photography, yoga, rhytim, salsa, sculpture, painting, mosaic, ceramic and woodwork decorating workshops. All activities are at basic level and all equipment is provided with the exception of camera and photographic films. However, you can purchase films cheaply at the camp. Campers can choose not to join in any workshop activity at any time.

Photography : Activities begin with the introduction of cameras, lenses and photographic films. There is a short theory section about light and composition, if needed. Then we go out in to the fields.

Yoga : The best time for yoga is at sunset. Just before all the colours of nature disappear into the night, the gentle yoga poses energize our bodies, leaving us feeling balanced and focused. We discover the boundries of our bodies during work-out with various yoga poses of iyengar yoga. Meditation releases stress and quietens our mind, which leads to physical and motional balance. There is only one rule in Yoga; do anything " as much as you can do " " not more " " not less ".

Rhytim : Excercises take place in the richest environment of Kayakoy. Campers will be given lessons in drum rhytims. Then shall be able to distinguish beats in more complex patterns. Campers should bring their own musical instrument ( maybe from their own culture ), if possible.

Salsa : First you are informed about salsa and than we shall show you the basic step techniques. As you know salsa has got no restrictions in style, so you can find your own free styles.

Painting : Basic design, drawing, Pastel and watercolour techniques are given for still life, landscape works. All out in the nature.

Pottery : Following the introduction to tools of pottery, techniques and formation theory, we make our own pottery. There are kiln-drying facilities as well. Decorating your own work is optional.

Woodwork decorating :This workshop is begins with designing mainly with guaj paint. We apply transfer and press techniques later on.

Mosaic : In this workshop we bring the different metarials together as our imaginations take us.

Drama(roleplay) : We try to decrease the difficulties of the everyday life such as improving the body language, using the diction and the gestures to express ourselves through the games.

Trekking : Our trips start after a ‘siesta’ in the afternoon. (This is to avoid direct sunlight at noon). You will reach places where you can have bird’s eye view of turquoise bays, by following picturesque tracks in beautiful pine forests. Dont worry, these are short journeys and get ready to enjoy the sea at the end. Suitable for anybody without health concerns.

You walk to a different destination everyday and you swim in a different bay everyday. These are the bays surrounded by pine forests and also important stops of ‘The Blue Journey’. (Oludeniz, Butterfly valley, Fethiye, Amintas Rock Tomb, Paspatur Bazzar (old City of Fethiye), Blue Lagon, Hisaronu, Ovacik, Blue Cave, Gemiler Bay, Monastery of Afkula, Coldwater Bay, Aquarium Bay, Camel Beach, Bottleneck Bay, Xantos, Tlos, Yakapark, Carpet fabric, St.Nicholas Island, Patara Beach, Darbogaz Beach, Saklikent Canyon)

You can also do paragliding from the world famous Babadag Mountain, water-sports, scuba diving, take bicycle or horse riding at your spare time during the week.

Accommodation : You can stay in your own tents or have one of ours. There are proper rooms, if you choose to sleep under the stars there are wooden platforms for sleeping bags.

Food : We will provide your breakfast, lunch and dinner as an open buffet. Vegetarians should not worry as there are plenty of local vegetable dishes. All meals are provided by Poseidon Restaurant located within ruins of old Kayakoy not far from our camp.

Things you should bring : A tent or a sleeping bag and a mat, if you choose self-accommodation. A camera for the photography workshop, a musical instrument (that you can play!!), swim suit, sun glasses, googles, sun cream, games, a hat, comfortable and simple clothes, a cardigan or a jumper for unexpected cool nights, your own tools if you wish for workshop activities.
